Ms Nell’s Kids
ALL ABOUT ME
On special days every year, Ms Nell would ask her Kindergarten children a question. Then, each child secretly drew an answer. While receiving the completed drawing, each child would quietly whisper their answer to Ms Nell. She then put it away to become a “see what I think” book for that child itled “All About Me”, which she gave to the child on the last day of class. Like so many other dedicated teachers, Ms Nell’s life is a legacy of unwavering love, care and personal dedication to the physical and spiritual growth of children.
Each day throughout the year, Ms Nell would ask the children to make a drawing from one of a variety of different questions. Such questions as: “When I grow up I want to be ...”, “My favorite friend is ...”, “I would like to be big enough to ...”, “My favorite Bible story is ...”, and so forth.
However, this section of drawings by Ms Nell’s Kids – her last Kindergarten class – (drawings she lovingly called “Secret Sheets”) represent their drawings from only one of 54 different questions: “If Jesus came to my house I would ...”
These drawings speak volumes about the precious thoughts of the little ones among us, while providing insight into why Jesus Christ said, “Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 18:10). “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it” (Mark 10:13-16).
